Waymo robotaxi detects ghost gun, pulls over and alerts police in San Francisco

Two juveniles were arrested in San Francisco after a Waymo autonomous vehicle detected a firearm and pulled over to alert authorities. The minors were found in possession of a loaded AR-style ghost gun and were subsequently taken to juvenile hall. Waymo confirmed to the Los Angeles Times that the vehicle was one of its own, after the police report did not identify the cab's operator. A company spokesperson stated that the system detected a terms-of-service violation involving a firearm, triggering the vehicle's response. This is not the first time a Waymo robotaxi has independently pulled over in response to an onboard incident.
