Open-source AI tool SignBridge translates Vietnamese Sign Language in real-time

A developer built an open-source, bidirectional AI translator called SignBridge for their deaf friend who uses Vietnamese Sign Language. The system translates continuous hand gestures into Vietnamese speech and text with near-zero latency, operating client-side for privacy. It uses in-browser hand tracking and local neural networks, functioning completely offline without cloud dependencies. The project was created to facilitate smoother communication and address the neglect of low-resource sign languages by proprietary services.

Developer outlines method for testing AI coding agent security permissions

A developer proposes a testing methodology to verify security boundaries for AI coding agents. The approach involves creating isolated test environments with dummy data to check if agents properly respect read-only permissions. Tests should verify agents cannot modify files, access unauthorized paths, or reach restricted network endpoints. This framework is presented as a preventive design exercise rather than a response to specific security incidents. The discussion emerges from broader community conversations about establishing clear trust boundaries for AI-assisted development tools.
