Framework BIOS Update Bricks Some AMD Ryzen 7040 Laptop 13 Units

A BIOS update for Framework Laptop 13 models with AMD Ryzen 7040-series chips has been bricking some devices on both Windows and Linux. The problematic update, version 3.20 for Ryzen 7040-series mainboards, was released in July and remained available on Framework's website. Affected users reported their laptops freezing on the update screen and becoming unresponsive. Framework has been sending replacement mainboards to users still covered under the one-year warranty, but those with out-of-warranty devices were initially told they would need to purchase new boards. The company has since acknowledged the issue and stated it is working to address the problem.
