Four UW students win $10,000 prize for wallet-sized CPR guidance patch

Four University of Washington students created CPRight, a wallet-sized patch that uses LED lights to coach rescuers during CPR. The device gives real-time feedback on how deep and how fast chest compressions are being performed. It needs no extra equipment to work. The invention earned the $10,000 undergraduate first prize at the 2026 Collegiate Inventors Competition. Other winning projects at the competition addressed cancer treatment, rehabilitation and neurological monitoring.
