Nepal PM Urges India and China to Act on Climate Change at UN General Assembly

Nepal's Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli made his first address to the UN General Assembly on Thursday, calling on neighbouring nations India and China to take stronger climate action. The 36-year-old leader used vivid language to highlight the cross-border nature of climate threats, stating that glaciers and floods do not respect national borders or visa requirements. The speech was delivered during his first foreign trip since assuming office on March 27. Nepal, situated in the Himalayas, is particularly vulnerable to glacial melting and flooding driven by climate change.

Bharat NCAP 2.0 to Launch in October 2027 with Expanded Safety Standards

India's vehicle safety testing program, Bharat NCAP, is set to undergo a major overhaul with its second phase launching in October 2027. The updated framework will evaluate cars across multiple stages, covering crash avoidance technology and post-collision care in addition to impact testing. Unlike the current system, Bharat NCAP 2.0 will extend its scope beyond occupant protection to also assess safety for vulnerable road users. Adult and child occupant protection will continue to be core pillars of the revised evaluation criteria. The upgrade signals India's push toward more comprehensive automotive safety standards.
