Bharat NCAP 2.0 to Launch in October 2027 with Expanded Safety Standards

India's vehicle safety testing program, Bharat NCAP, is set to undergo a major overhaul with its second phase launching in October 2027. The updated framework will evaluate cars across multiple stages, covering crash avoidance technology and post-collision care in addition to impact testing. Unlike the current system, Bharat NCAP 2.0 will extend its scope beyond occupant protection to also assess safety for vulnerable road users. Adult and child occupant protection will continue to be core pillars of the revised evaluation criteria. The upgrade signals India's push toward more comprehensive automotive safety standards.
