Government completes 1 crore urban homes under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana

The Indian government has announced the completion and delivery of over one crore urban houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana scheme. Since its launch in 2015, a total of 1.25 crore homes have received official approval under the programme. Nearly one crore of these sanctioned houses have been allocated to women beneficiaries. Under the newer PMAY-Urban 2.0 phase, more than 2.09 lakh homes have been introduced for Economically Weaker Section families. Additionally, 1.4 lakh homes were sanctioned for permanent construction through the Beneficiary Led Construction scheme.
