Yellowstone-to-Yukon Wildlife Corridor Protecting 59M Acres Named Earthshot Finalist

A major conservation initiative linking wild habitats from Wyoming to Canada's Yukon has been shortlisted for Prince William's prestigious Earthshot Prize. Known as the Yellowstone to Yukon project, it currently safeguards 59 million acres of land and supports 204 wildlife crossings to help animals safely traverse highways. The initiative brings together a broad coalition of groups, with Indigenous communities stewarding roughly a quarter of the protected territory. The project aims to extend its conservation footprint by an additional 50 million acres before 2030.
