A consumer commission has directed Tata Select Motors to repurchase a Tata Harrier EV following persistent smart-key and central-locking malfunctions that persisted despite multiple repair attempts. The order, passed on September 7, 2026, addressed defects that first emerged in 2025. The commission ruled that the vehicle's price be refunded after applying a ten percent depreciation deduction. In addition to the refund, the buyer was awarded Rs 50,000 as compensation for the inconvenience caused. The commission also ordered the dealer to pay Rs 15,000 towards the consumer's litigation costs.
