SecureClinic: A Local Python Tool for Redacting PII from Patient Notes

A developer has released SecureClinic, an experimental Python and Streamlit utility that removes personally identifiable information from text notes. The tool runs entirely offline, so sensitive records never need to be sent to third-party cloud services. It was built as an entry for a Hacktoberfest open-source AI challenge and includes basic text replacement and file upload features. The author argues that small clinics and independent practitioners need local tools because uploading medical data to opaque cloud servers carries privacy risks. The project is presented as a simple proof of concept rather than a finished product.

Mycelium gives all of a company's AI agents one shared memory graph

Mycelium is a shared context graph built on FalkorDB that links every AI agent in an organization. It lets agents recall fixes that teammates found in other projects, and it skips solutions that were later superseded because they failed. Agents can also see which colleagues are working on related components right now and get warned when a dependency they rely on changes. The project plugs into Claude Code through MCP and hooks, and was built for the Graph Hacks hackathon. On the team's benchmark, plain vector search returned a broken superseded fix on all 12 stale-fix queries, while Mycelium returned none.

Outdoor kiosk displays need anti-glare coating, optical bonding and careful IP65 planning

Displays that look fine indoors often become unreadable on outdoor kiosks under midday sun, according to industrial monitor shipments to outdoor projects. Contrast matters more than the headline brightness figure, and glare from the cover glass and internal reflections between the LCD and glass are the main culprits. Anti-glare coating and optical bonding are recommended alongside high brightness to keep images legible. Heat trapped in sealed enclosures is another common failure point, so ventilation, a wide operating temperature range and wide-voltage input are suggested. The article also warns that IP65 applies only to the front surface, and that rear connectors, cable entries and mounting design determine whether water actually gets in.

BillWise Local: Open-Source Invoice Tool That Processes Bills Entirely on Your Machine

A developer has released BillWise Local, a local-first application that extracts data from invoice images and PDFs for freelancers and small businesses. It combines Tesseract OCR and pypdf for text extraction with SmolLM2, an open-weight model run locally, to structure invoice fields and line items. The app validates financial calculations, stores records in SQLite, detects duplicates, and offers a spending dashboard with CSV export. Built in Python and Streamlit, it keeps invoice data on the user's computer rather than sending it to a hosted AI service. The developer notes that valid output does not guarantee accuracy, so dates and values still require human review.
