Supreme Court flags rising sexual assault cases in Delhi, invokes Nirbhaya case

The Supreme Court has expressed serious concern over the growing number of sexual assault cases in Delhi. The court drew comparisons to the infamous 2012 Nirbhaya gangrape case to highlight the gravity of the situation. Judges pointed to a systemic failure on the part of law enforcement agencies in effectively handling such incidents. Taking note of the issue on its own initiative, the court registered a suo motu case to address the matter.
