Developer identifies key gaps in AI agent tools for React Native app testing

A developer building a tool to let an AI agent test a React Native application encountered fundamental limitations in its design. The original tool operated only within the Claude Code agent and lacked visibility for the human operator, who could not monitor its actions in real time. The tool's safety mechanism, which relied on scanning button labels for risky words, was also found to be insufficient. Further investigation revealed that agents cannot accurately verify their work by checking standard iOS logs or React's source mapping, as these sources often omit JavaScript errors and provide incorrect line numbers.

Critique: Algorithm Interviews Often Misalign With Actual Job Demands

LeetCode-style coding tests can filter out candidates lacking coding fluency, which is a valid screening goal. However, critics argue these timed tests for specific algorithmic puzzles often misalign with roles requiring system design, debugging, or collaboration skills. The issue is applying such algorithmic screens uniformly, even when the job rarely uses those advanced techniques. This can filter out experienced engineers strong in necessary areas like architecture or production debugging. Consequently, the interview may measure irrelevant skills while overlooking those critical for success in the role.
