ED arrests ex-CGPSC chief for alleged paper leak, nepotism in Chhattisgarh recruitment

Retired IAS officer Taman Singh Sonwani was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on July 25 in connection with an alleged CGPSC examination paper leak. He is accused of amending recruitment rules in 2021 to benefit his own family members. Following these rule changes, Sonwani allegedly facilitated the appointment of relatives to positions including deputy collector and DSP. A special court has granted the ED seven days of custodial remand to conduct further investigation into the matter.
