Vermont firm uses sheep to manage vegetation at large-scale solar farms

Since 2018, a Vermont-based company called Agrivoltaic Solutions LLC has employed sheep to graze vegetation at solar installations. The operation now manages approximately 1,500 acres across multiple states using a flock that has grown from 30 to 500 animals. This approach provides income for partnering farmers and reduces maintenance costs for utility companies. The initiative aims to support regional agricultural stability and improve land-use practices around renewable energy sites.
