UK Secures £4.3M Norman-Era Coin Hoard, Largest Treasure Find in British History

A collection of 2,584 silver pennies dating to the Norman era has been acquired for the nation at a valuation of £4.3 million, making it the most significant treasure discovery in British history. The hoard was originally unearthed by detectorists and is believed to reflect the political instability that followed the Norman Conquest of England. Funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund made the acquisition possible. The coins are set to go on public display across the country before eventually being permanently housed in Somerset.
