Uber cuts 3,300 jobs in biggest restructuring since 2020

Uber is eliminating approximately 3,300 positions, representing around 10% of its global workforce, in its largest restructuring effort since 2020. CEO Dara Khosrowshahi announced the move aims to reduce management layers and consolidate delivery and engineering teams. The changes will shrink manager headcount by 20% and reduce fully remote roles to roughly 1% of the workforce, bringing total employee numbers back to 2021 levels. The freed-up capital is intended to accelerate Uber's investment in robotaxi technology. Khosrowshahi clarified that artificial intelligence was not the driving factor behind the job cuts.
