Turkish farmer unearths intact 1,700-year-old Roman mosaic while planting trees

A farmer in eastern Türkiye accidentally discovered a large Roman mosaic while planting cherry trees on his land. The artwork, estimated to be around 1,700 years old, covers an area of 84 square meters and remains fully intact. The mosaic features detailed depictions of Anatolian wildlife, making it a rare environmental record of the era. Authorities consider it the first complete mosaic of its kind ever found in Türkiye, underlining the region's significant and largely undiscovered historical heritage.
