Mexican social enterprise EcoDom has developed a system that converts discarded plastic waste into durable building panels used to construct homes. The project simultaneously addresses two critical issues: plastic pollution and the shortage of affordable housing. Hollywood Video founder Mark Wattles originally purchased the 32-acre property in 1994 for $1.25 million and invested around $12 million into its construction. Despite his efforts, the project was never brought to completion. Two subsequent owners also attempted to develop the estate but similarly failed to finish it. The long-stalled property remains one of the region's most notable unfinished real estate projects.
