Three Ways to Remove Duplicate Lines from a Large CSV While Keeping Original Order

A developer needed to merge two billing-system exports of customer emails into one CRM import file without repeated entries. Because the CRM rejects files containing any duplicate and gives priority to earlier rows, the deduplication had to preserve original order, ruling out sort -u. The article recommends a Python script that tracks seen lines in a set, and a single-line GNU awk command that accomplishes the same first-occurrence-wins behavior. It notes memory limits for very large files, and mentions a browser-based tool as an option for small pasted lists, processed locally on the user's machine.

Reading the LR2000E2 2 km laser rangefinder over UART with Python

This DEV Community tutorial shows how to read data from the ERDI LR2000E2, a 905 nm UART laser rangefinder with a published range of 4 to 2,000 m. The module uses a four-wire connection, and the article warns that most errors come from protocol details such as skipped frame headers, unverified checksums, and wrong unit assumptions. Failed readings are common at long range, with the manual citing a valid rate of 80% or better beyond 400 m, so code must treat failures as normal. The article also flags practical concerns, including unclear TXD/RXD logic levels, the need for an enable signal on pin 6, and power supplies that can sag under the module's inrush current. It then describes the 8-byte command and reply frames, the checksum rule, and the distance encoding that requires dividing by 10, followed by a Python reader example.

Salesforce, HubSpot and Pipedrive Compared for Small Teams Choosing an Entry CRM

Three CRM vendors have entry plans that differ more in product shape than in price, according to a comparison of Salesforce, HubSpot and Pipedrive for small teams. Pipedrive Lite is a focused sales-pipeline tool with no free plan, offering a 14-day trial instead. HubSpot Starter bundles five starter products covering marketing, sales, service, content and data, while Salesforce Starter Suite is a simplified all-in-one CRM with an upgrade path into the wider Salesforce ecosystem. Email sync is a key differentiator: it is included at HubSpot Starter, begins at Pipedrive's Growth plan, and is not confirmed on Salesforce's official pages. The article notes that listed prices carry caveats, such as HubSpot's introductory offer and Salesforce's 'subject to change' label, so buyers should compare must-have features alongside cost.
