Texas White House donated to US in 1972, Lady Bird Johnson lived there until 2007

Lyndon B. Johnson and his wife Lady Bird donated their Texas ranch house, along with roughly 600 acres, to the National Park Service in 1972. However, the couple retained lifetime rights to continue residing on the property. Following Lyndon Johnson's death in 1973, Lady Bird remained at the ranch as her primary residence. She continued living there until her own passing in 2007, more than three decades after the donation. The estate, commonly referred to as the 'Texas White House', was subsequently opened to the public for tours.
