Texas duo revives overgrazed 225-acre ranch into thriving wildlife habitat

Jim Willis and John Webb purchased a degraded 225-acre Texas ranch in 2000 that had been stripped bare by overgrazing. Over the years, the two friends undertook an extensive restoration effort, planting 3,000 sand plum trees, establishing a five-acre wetland, and reforming grazing practices. Their efforts gradually transformed the land into a diverse habitat supporting bobwhite quail, grassland birds, deer, and ducks. The revived ranch has also inspired neighboring landowners to participate in a broader habitat corridor initiative.
