Telangana RERA fines builder Rs 98 lakh for delivering 1,169 sq ft less than promised

Telangana's Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) has ordered a builder to pay a penalty of Rs 98 lakh after finding that the developer delivered significantly less space than what was promised to a buyer. The builder had committed to providing 5,069 square feet but delivered only around 3,900 square feet, a shortfall of over 1,100 square feet. RERA ruled that this conduct amounted to cheating and was in violation of Section 3 of the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act. The authority not only imposed the financial penalty but also directed the builder to refund the buyer. RERA strongly condemned such deceptive practices, signalling a firm stance against builders who mislead homebuyers on property specifications.
