Rep. Ritchie Torres of New York's 15th district introduced the Power To The Players Act this week. The bill would direct the Federal Trade Commission to create rules ensuring that buyers own games they purchase rather than receiving a licensing agreement. Many modern games require a server connection, so they become unplayable when companies shut those servers down. Torres cited NBA 2K25 as a recent example, noting it is being delisted from storefronts and its servers will be shut down. The bill has been introduced but has not yet been passed.
Lenovo's Legion Go S running SteamOS is discounted to $999.99 at Best Buy, down from $1,579.99. It runs the same software as the $789 Steam Deck OLED but offers a larger eight-inch 1080p IPS screen with refresh rates up to 120Hz. The model also doubles the Deck OLED's memory and storage to 32GB RAM and 1TB, and uses a slightly faster Ryzen Z1 Extreme processor. The reviewer notes it is less powerful than the newer $1,299.99 Asus ROG Xbox Ally X20 but still a strong handheld option.

He cited his decision to rename the Gulf of Mexico and Lake Ontario as evidence of his expanded power. He suggested that Google now defers to him, implying he personally persuaded the company to reflect the name change. This account appears to conflict with a Google statement on the matter, according to the article.
