Swiss Tourist Jailed in Bali for Mocking Hindu New Year Holiday on Instagram

A Swiss construction worker named Luzian Andrin Zgraggen has been jailed in Bali after posting an Instagram video that mocked the Hindu holiday of Nyepi. In the video, Zgraggen filmed an empty beach during the sacred observance and described the scene as 'crazy.' Nyepi, also known as the Balinese Hindu New Year, is a day of silence during which residents and visitors are expected to remain indoors and refrain from normal activities. Balinese authorities took action against the tourist for the disrespectful remarks made about the culturally significant holiday.
