Startup Star Catcher to Test First-Ever Energy Beaming Between Two Spacecraft

Space startup Star Catcher is preparing to launch a system designed to transmit energy between two separate spacecraft using lasers. If the test succeeds, it would mark the first time in history that energy has been wirelessly beamed from one spacecraft to another. The technology, sometimes referred to as space-based power beaming, has long been theorized but never demonstrated between distinct orbiting vehicles. A successful demonstration could open the door to new ways of powering satellites and other space infrastructure without relying solely on onboard energy sources.
