Spain threatens retaliation against Italy over Ceuta migrant border controls

Tensions have risen between Spain and Italy following a large-scale crossing of migrants from Morocco into the Spanish enclave of Ceuta last week. Spain has threatened retaliatory measures if Italy does not lift border controls it imposed in response to the incident. Italy has firmly pushed back, stating it will not accept what it described as ultimatums or impositions from Spain. The diplomatic dispute highlights growing friction between European Union members over migration policy and border management.
