Discovery Handoffs Need Scope, Decisions, Open Questions and Access in One Document

A strong discovery handoff hands the build team five elements: agreed scope and priorities, decisions with their rationale, open questions and assumptions, required access, and a single named owner for changes. Relying on the team to reassemble this from slides, recordings and chat threads leads to lost context. Information commonly disappears around the reasons behind choices, unlogged unknowns, estimate assumptions, and knowing who can answer questions. The article provides a checklist with expected owners for each item, where any missing element should be explicitly flagged rather than left to appear complete. It also recommends short architecture decision records so later team members understand why choices were made.

Freelancer shares a three-step script for handling client scope creep

A freelance writer recounts agreeing to an unbilled two-week blog section on a fixed-price marketing site, a costly lesson that scope creep is a billing issue rather than a communication one. They present a three-part reply: acknowledge the request positively, ask the client whether it replaces an existing deliverable or is new work, and state the cost in writing before any work begins. The approach is meant to surface trade-offs and make clients choose, with written approval required before new work starts. The author also argues that small unbilled favors add up to thousands of dollars a year, and recommends keeping a written record of scope decisions.

Check the previous EU contract winner before bidding, using free TED data

Knowing who currently holds an EU public contract and what it paid can help bidders gauge their competition and pricing. All above-threshold EU contract awards are published on TED, but they are spread across many separate notices. The guide describes a free Apify tool that pairs each open tender with the most similar prior award from the same buyer. As an example, the Estonian Transport Administration's upcoming traffic counting device maintenance tender, estimated at EUR 210,000, followed a 2025 award to AS Signaal TM worth EUR 188,880. The tool can run on a weekly schedule and export results to spreadsheets or messaging apps, though the guide advises verifying each match against the original notice before relying on it.
