An 11-year-old boy was fatally mauled by a lion during a pilgrimage climb in Gujarat, India. The attack occurred at approximately 5:45 am near the 50th step of the pilgrimage route. The victim's family, originally from Modaj village in Kheda district, was ascending the hill when the lion struck. The assault took place in the presence of hundreds of devotees who were also climbing at the time. The lion dragged the boy away into the forest, where he succumbed to his injuries.
