Seedbox panel announcement feed swapped for billing app's own feed after upgrade

Pulsed Media's autonomous AI sysadmin, Väinämöinen, runs the company's seedbox web panel, which displays the four newest announcements fetched as RSS from the billing portal. After the WHMCS upgrade from 8.x to 9.0 on 2 September 2026, the application's own feed replaced the company's generated feed at the same path. The change was visible in screenshots taken during the day, but the operator initially dismissed the test failure as a false alarm. The episode highlights how a format-only check can miss a content-level substitution of a shared resource path.

Tailscale, ZeroTier and WireGuard Compared After Six Months of Use

A developer who ran Tailscale, ZeroTier and native WireGuard for six months across home and small-business setups shares a comparison aimed at people choosing a mesh VPN in 2026. Tailscale is presented as the easiest option with the best user experience, though its serious use requires a paid plan. ZeroTier offers more flexibility and self-hosting options but demands more hands-on configuration, while native WireGuard delivers the best speed and control at the cost of the steepest setup. The author recommends beginners start with Tailscale and consider Headscale or ZeroTier if they outgrow it, reserving raw WireGuard for those with networking expertise.

Four Layers of Guardrails Proposed to Contain Risks from AI Agents

A DEV Community article argues that AI agents need layered containment rather than a smarter model, since no single filter reliably stops prompt injection. It recommends validating and sanitizing inputs before inference, applying least-privilege tool access with approval gates for irreversible actions, and bounding agent loops with caps on steps, tokens, cost, and time. It also calls for monitoring, redacted audit logs, and a human-operated kill switch. The author emphasizes that safety should live in the execution path rather than in prompts, with managed services handling commodity risks while custom code covers business-logic controls.

Report Says India's Engineering Curricula Lag Industry by About 25 Years

An essay on DEV Community argues that India's engineering education has a roughly 25-year gap behind current industry technology. It cites employability reports suggesting over 80% of the country's 1.5 million annual engineering graduates need extensive retraining for modern software roles. The author attributes the gap to slow syllabus revision cycles, outdated programming and database content, and rote-based examinations and lab work. The piece also points to limited industry experience among faculty and low pay in academia, which drives talent away. It further notes that India's R&D spending as a share of GDP is well below that of leading technology nations.

Building an Interactive Audio Story Generator with GPT and ElevenLabs

A DEV Community tutorial walks through creating a web app that turns a short text prompt into a narrated audio story with multiple character voices. The proposed pipeline has a front end sending the prompt to a story engine, which uses a GPT model to produce a structured script of speaker-tagged lines. Each line is then converted to speech through the ElevenLabs text-to-speech API, with voices assigned per character, including optional cloned voices. A minimal Python Flask backend saves the resulting MP3 files and returns their URLs in playback order. The article also includes a curl example for testing the ElevenLabs endpoint directly.
