San Francisco's Candlestick Point redevelopment breaks ground after decade-long delay

San Francisco has officially broken ground on the long-delayed Candlestick Point redevelopment project, nearly ten years after the demolition of Candlestick Park. The first phase of the project carries a $130 million price tag and will focus on building foundational infrastructure, including roads and utilities, across the 270-acre site. Once complete, the mixed-use development is planned to include up to 7,200 homes alongside retail spaces, offices, parks, and community facilities. The project marks a significant milestone in transforming the former stadium site into a large-scale urban neighborhood.
