Researcher Demonstrates SMM Exploit Using Extended Interrupt Technique

A security researcher has published a proof-of-concept exploit targeting System Management Mode (SMM), a highly privileged CPU operating mode found in x86 systems. The exploit leverages an unusually long interrupt sequence to manipulate SMM execution. SMM operates below the operating system level, making vulnerabilities in this layer particularly severe and difficult to detect. The project was shared publicly on GitHub by the researcher known as xoreaxeaxeax, who has a history of low-level hardware security research. No patch or mitigation details were included in the initial release.
