Reel Quick adds automatic scene transitions via FFmpeg xfade filter

An open-source reel-production tool called Reel Quick has received an update that introduces automatic scene transitions between video clips. The feature, built using FastAPI, Next.js, and FFmpeg, lets creators select from ten xfade transition effects — such as fade, dissolve, wipe, and slide — before queuing a render job. On the backend, a transition catalog validates and stores the user's choice, while the frontend fetches available options and passes the selection into the render pipeline. FFmpeg then applies the chosen transition at every scene boundary during output generation, eliminating the need for external video editing. The feature requires a local FFmpeg build that supports the xfade filter, and the project's code is publicly available on GitHub.
