India Reports Zero Naxalism-Affected Districts for First Time by March 2026

India's Ministry of Home Affairs has declared that no district in the country is currently affected by Left-wing extremism as of March 2026. This represents a dramatic drop from 126 affected districts before April 2018. Maoist violence has sharply declined, with only a handful of incidents recorded this year. Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand remain the only two states still reporting any Maoist activity. Despite the milestone, 37 districts continue to be designated as legacy and thrust areas under government classification.

Karnataka leads Centre's Electronics Development Fund with 64% of total investments

Karnataka has emerged as the top beneficiary of the central government's Electronics Development Fund, receiving Rs 854.5 crore out of the total Rs 1,335 crore invested. The fund supported 128 companies overall, with 90 of them based in Karnataka. Other states including Telangana, Maharashtra, and Delhi also received notable investments in technology startups. The fund is managed by Canbank Venture Capital Fund and has now entered its divestment phase.

Thousands of Indian MBBS graduates are unable to appear for foreign medical licensing examinations because their colleges lack ECFMG sponsor notes required for global recognition. The ECFMG sponsor note is a formal credential that medical institutions must obtain to enable their graduates to pursue international medical practice. A significant concern is that many students only become aware of this gap after completing their medical degrees. The National Medical Commission is currently working on updating the status of several Indian medical colleges with respect to this requirement.
