Punjab Cabinet Passes Resolution Against Centre's HC Chief Justice Appointment

The Punjab cabinet has formally objected to the Centre's appointment of Justice Ashwani Kumar Mishra as the High Court's Chief Justice. The state government passed a resolution against the move, citing that its consent was never sought before the notification was issued. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann argued that the Centre's action violated established constitutional norms and procedures. He characterised the appointment as an infringement on Punjab's rights, accusing the Centre of acting with undue haste in the matter.
