Priscilla Chan's $125M Primary School Closes After a Decade Amid Funding Cut

The Primary School, co-founded by Priscilla Chan in the San Francisco Bay Area, has shut down after ten years of operation. The closure followed the withdrawal of funding from the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, prompting the school's board to wind down operations. The school had consistently failed to meet California state academic benchmarks and did not fulfil leadership expectations. Approximately 540 enrolled students will be absorbed into the nearby Ravenswood City Elementary School District. The Chan Zuckerberg Initiative has committed financial support to ease the transition and provide savings for affected students.
