Oracle Cuts Thousands in Second Round of Layoffs, India Unit May Be Next

Oracle launched a fresh wave of layoffs on September 14, with affected US employees receiving termination emails from 'Oracle Leadership' at 6am — mirroring a similar round that occurred in March. System access was revoked in the early hours, with logins disabled around 4am and Slack access cut off by 5:30am. Slack user counts dropped by an estimated 3,000 to 4,000, signalling the scale of the cuts. Divisions including OCI, Fusion, NetSuite, Oracle Health, and the Abilene Stargate site were among those affected. Oracle's India Development Centre is reportedly next in line as the company's total restructuring costs climb to $2.8 billion.
