OpenAI requires hardware-backed passkeys for Trusted Access Cyber members on ChatGPT

OpenAI has made hardware-backed passkeys mandatory for members of its Trusted Access Cyber program when logging into ChatGPT accounts. The move is part of a push toward stronger, phishing-resistant authentication for a select group of users. Hardware-backed passkeys, such as those provided by security key maker Yubico, store cryptographic credentials on a physical device rather than software. This requirement raises the security bar by ensuring that account access cannot be compromised through password theft or phishing attacks alone.
