The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has officially revised key income tax compliance deadlines for eligible taxpayers. The deadline for submitting audit reports has been extended to October 21, 2026, while the last date for filing income tax returns has been pushed to November 21, 2026. These extensions apply to specific categories of taxpayers covered under the Income-tax Act, 1961, who are required to get their accounts audited. A formal notification detailing the changes is expected to be released by the CBDT shortly.
