Ohio woman spent $300K restoring abandoned lighthouse into off-grid lakeside home

Sheila Consaul, now 68, purchased the historic Fairport Harbor West Lighthouse in Ohio at a 2011 auction for $71,010. The century-old structure had been abandoned before Consaul took on its revival. Over the years, she invested more than $300,000 to fully restore the landmark. The lighthouse has since been converted into an off-grid summer residence powered by solar energy and rainwater collection. The property retains its historic interiors and offers scenic views of Lake Erie.
