Ohio City Converts Abandoned Glass Factory into 250-Acre Public Park

Mount Vernon, Ohio has transformed a former glass factory site into Ariel-Foundation Park, a 250-acre public green space. The park incorporates industrial heritage elements, including a historic smokestack that has been repurposed as an observation tower. Three lakes were formed from old gravel quarries, adding a natural water feature to the landscape. A network of walking trails links the park's various attractions and connects to broader recreational routes in the area. The adaptive reuse project has turned what was once a deteriorating industrial site into a thriving community landmark.
