NVIDIA Launches Ising AI Models to Tackle Quantum Computing's Core Scaling Barriers

On April 14, 2026, NVIDIA released Ising, a family of open-source AI models built to address two critical obstacles blocking practical quantum computing: processor calibration and error correction. As quantum processors scale toward thousands of qubits, manual calibration becomes impossible and existing decoding algorithms grow computationally intractable, making both problems unsolvable with current methods. Ising is designed to sit within the quantum computing stack, interpreting complex hardware data to make fast, accurate calibration and error-correction decisions automatically. The models are released under NVIDIA's Open Model License, integrate with the CUDA-Q platform, and are already in use at leading quantum research laboratories. NVIDIA's move marks the first time AI models have been purpose-built to resolve these foundational quantum scaling challenges at a production level.
