New IAF chief sets priorities on fighter squadron strength and indigenous aircraft

In his first address as Indian Air Force chief, Air Chief Marshal Ashutosh Dixit laid out his main priorities for the service. He placed emphasis on rebuilding the strength of combat squadrons and accelerating indigenous aircraft programmes. Dixit argued that operational readiness and self-reliance are essential given shifting security conditions and rapid changes in military technology. He also pledged to look after the welfare of air warriors and their families.
