Game developer recommends backend collector for React frontend error tracking

A developer writing for DEV Community recommends using a backend collector to manage frontend errors in live React-based games, where high traffic can create duplicate exceptions. The proposed method involves capturing global errors and unhandled rejections, then sending a sanitized report to a backend service. Key data includes error type, a limited message, stack trace, page path, browser, game build, and environment, while deliberately excluding personal data like player names and query strings. This approach aims to provide enough information to diagnose issues while maintaining user privacy and avoiding data protection compliance complexities. The solution is presented as a practical trade-off for indie teams needing usable error tracking without full client observability.
