MyZubster Launches Contributor Passport To Verify Knowledge Creation

MyZubster has released a new Contributor Passport system. This feature aims to create a structured identity layer for users that connects their rewards, transaction history, and contributions. Rsync Hard Links Enable Efficient Backups, Saving Significant Disk Space

A developer demonstrates a method for efficient disk backups using rsync with the `--link-dest` flag. This technique uses hard links to avoid storing duplicate copies of unchanged files across multiple backup snapshots. In a test, three full-looking snapshots occupied only 1,380 KB of disk space, whereas three naive copies would have required 3,540 KB. The method creates independent, restorable snapshots while significantly reducing storage costs. The author notes the core command is freely available, though they also offer a packaged version for sale.

AI developers choosing CLI over MCP for agents to reduce token costs

A developer team has removed nearly half of their MCP servers for AI agents after months of use. They found Model Context Protocol adds unnecessary layers of process, schema, and authentication maintenance. Modern AI models like Claude and Gemini already excel at using CLI tools through --help commands. The team now defaults to CLI tools with JSON output and clear error codes, reserving MCP for specific exceptions.

Developer builds daily snapshot system for 211,000 Korean companies due to missing API history

A developer created a system that records daily status snapshots of 211,243 Korean companies through the National Tax Service's public API. This initiative addresses the API's limitation of providing only current business registration status without historical data. The automated job runs daily, stores current statuses, and generates change files highlighting companies that became active, suspended, or closed. The developer emphasizes this data cannot be purchased elsewhere and provides valuable insights about business continuity and risk assessment.

Mac's sips tool batch resizes images in seven formats but fails on WebP

The built-in Mac command-line tool sips can batch resize images without third-party software. A simple command resamples originals without confirmation, while adding an --out flag preserves original files. Testing shows sips successfully writes seven image formats plus PDF. However, it fails to write WebP files, returning an unknown error. The tool also rejects some format aliases like 'tif' and 'heif' that differ from their working identifiers.
