Bharat Ratna scientist CNR Rao summoned over minor name spelling discrepancy

Renowned scientist and Bharat Ratna awardee Prof C N R Rao has been issued a Show Cause Notice requiring him to confirm his identity before electoral authorities. The issue arose during a routine electoral roll revision, where a minor spelling inconsistency was detected in his name across different voter records. The 2002 electoral roll listed him as 'Prof C N R Rao', while the current roll includes an additional letter 'f' in the entry. Nobel laureate economist Amartya Sen faced a similar name discrepancy during the same process. Unlike Rao, Sen has been granted an exemption from appearing in person for identity verification.

Ola Electric ordered to pay ₹2.34 lakh for failing to deliver e-bike on time

A consumer commission has ruled against Ola Electric after the company failed to deliver an electric motorcycle to a customer despite receiving full payment. The commission directed Ola Electric to refund ₹1,34,161 to the affected buyer. An additional ₹90,000 was awarded to the customer as compensation for loss of livelihood and mental distress caused by the delay. The commission noted that Ola Electric could not provide adequate justification for the prolonged non-delivery. The ruling underscores a clear deficiency in service on the company's part.
