India's Unified Payments Interface (UPI) now processes approximately 66 crore transactions every day, reflecting massive adoption since its launch in 2016. The platform's annual transaction volume has surged from 1.78 crore to over 24,162 crore, representing a 13,000-fold increase. UPI has become a core pillar of India's digital public infrastructure, underpinning a wide range of financial activities across the country. The International Monetary Fund has recognised UPI as the world's leading real-time payment system, underscoring its global significance.
