Mirabai Chanu Claims First Asian Games Medal with Silver in 49kg Weightlifting

Indian weightlifter Mirabai Chanu won her maiden Asian Games medal, securing silver in the 49kg category. She recorded a total lift of 198kg, comprising 87kg in the snatch and 111kg in the clean and jerk. The achievement marks a significant milestone for Chanu, who had previously been denied a medal at the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Games. On that occasion, an injury had forced her to abort her final clean and jerk attempt, leaving her in fourth place.
