Microsoft shifts communications under Brad Smith as CCO Frank Shaw prepares to exit

Microsoft is restructuring its communications group by moving it out of marketing and into its Corporate, External, and Legal Affairs (CELA) organization. Vice Chair and President Brad Smith will oversee communications during the transition. Chief Communications Officer Frank Shaw, who has served Microsoft for nearly 30 years, announced his departure earlier this month and will leave later this year. CEO Satya Nadella acknowledged Shaw's contributions in an internal memo shared with staff. Microsoft is currently searching for a permanent replacement to lead the communications function.
