MakeMyTrip ordered to pay Rs 48,775 for listing non-existent hotels

A consumer commission has directed MakeMyTrip to pay a total of Rs 48,775 to a complainant after two hotels booked through the platform turned out to be non-existent. The properties could not be located at their listed addresses, leaving the family stranded with nowhere to stay. As a result, the family was forced to spend the night sleeping in their car in sub-zero temperatures. The commission found MakeMyTrip liable for listing misrepresented and fictitious properties on its platform. In addition to a refund of Rs 18,775, the platform was also ordered to pay compensation and litigation costs to the affected consumer.
