Passenger's Pistol Fires at Varanasi Airport After He Claims It Was Unloaded

A passenger named Kamlesh Kedarnath Rai from Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh, caused a security scare at Varanasi Airport when his pistol accidentally discharged. Rai was travelling with his wife on Air India Express flight IX1810 bound for Mumbai. He had reportedly assured airport staff that his 7.62 mm pistol was not loaded before the weapon fired. The gun was found to be carrying 21 live cartridges at the time of the incident. The episode has raised serious concerns about firearms handling and security screening procedures at the airport.
